Six Pictures: The Dogs

While staying with Mollie and Trevor I'm also staying with Kiley and Banjo, their two dogs. One afternoon, lamenting the Twins' loss, I shot Six Pictures: The Dogs.

Six Pictures: Not My House

Having bid unsuccessfully on a house, I decided to make use of the photos I took. And so, Six Pictures: Not My House

Six Pictures: Hartsfield-Jackson Airport

On my way to Las Vegas I had a six hour layover in Atlanta. With nothing to do, I wandered around and played with my camera. The result:Six Pictures: Hartsfield-Jaconson Atlanta International Airport

Six Pictures: Amsterdam

Before Lisbon and Madrid, I had a 22 hour layover in Amsterdam. Though a bit chilly, I spent about five hours walking around the city, took in a couple of museums, and was in bed by about 8. Though I only spent about 12 hours in the city, I did shoot:

Six Pictures: Lisbon

After three days at the beach in Salema, we spend an afternoon in Lisbon. Spending our limited time walking around the old parts of the city, I managed to come up with:

Six Pictures: Madrid's Botanical Gardens

Wondering about on a beautiful afternoon in Madrid, Rebecca and I found ourselves at the entrance to the botanical gardens. Who could resist, especially with the opportunity to create:

Six Pictures: Signs on Bourbon Street

After watching several Lundi Gras parades, I wandered over to Bourbon Street. The parades (which will soon be the topic of their own Six Pictures) were a family event, with parents holding small children on shoulders. Bourbon Street, by contrast, was packed with drunken college boys surrounding girls who were preparing to expose themselves. Because I fancy the entire chabel.net empire a PG-13 venture, I have no photos of the exposings. Instead:

Six Pictures: Floats on Magazine

Driving down Magazine Street in New Orleans, I was delayed as a series of floats crossed the street. This was not a scheduled parade, but they've got to get these things from here to there somehow. Since I was stuck there for a while, I took some pictures.

Six Pictures: Pontchartrain Park

Last week in New Orleans, I shot damage in the Upper Ninth Ward, where most houses will need to be gutted or demolished.

Six Pictures: An introduction

Welcome to Six Pictures. This site is an extension of the chabel.net media empire. It is an effort to encourage me to take more pictures, and post more online. Picasa2 by Google coupled with Simpleviewer have made posting much easier.

Why six pictures?

The advent of the digital camera coupled with cheap storage cards has reduced the marginal cost of picture-taking to zero. The internet has eliminated publishing costs. Limiting each post to six pictures forces me to more rigorously edit my photos, and hopefully, will help me think like an editor while I'm shooting.

Enjoy.
